If you want a whiter, brighter smile, porcelain veneers are rising in favorability because of their visible benefits. They are helpful in fixing teeth that are discolored, worn, chipped, broken, irregularly shaped, or gapped.
Porcelain veneers are delicate, white ceramic covers that we attach to the forefront of the teeth using a special dental cement. After removing a small layer of enamel from the front of the tooth, an impression of the tooth is made, which is then used to create the veneer. Every patient is different, and while developing each plan, we utilize our extensive experience and habitual precision to compliment and magnify the features of each smile.
A common question is whether or not the patient’s teeth will still look natural once the porcelain veneers are applied. The veneers are extremely thin, yet durable, and they repel stains from many types of food and drinks. Each veneer is sculpted for each tooth and it is near impossible to distinguish from natural teeth. Once applied, the teeth will look bright and healthy.
After the porcelain veneers are placed, they just need to be maintained the same way as natural teeth by brushing and flossing routinely. Grinding or clenching the teeth can do damage over time to the veneers, and in that case, a nighttime bite guard is most likely recommended. If a veneer does get damaged, in most cases, just that individual veneer can be restored.
